ISEE: Independent School Entrance Examination
The ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination) is developed by Educational Records Bureau based out New York City (NYC). The ISEE Score is considered as benchmark for admission as well as assessment of students' performance. Many Independent Schools and Magnet Schools across United States use ISEE Score. The ISEE is similar to SSAT and has 4 levels:
- Primary level, for entrance to grades 2–4
- Lower level, for entrance in grades 5–6
- Middle level, for entrance in grades 7–8
- Upper level, for entrance in grades 9–12
All levels consist of five sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics Achievement, and a 30-minute essay. The ISEE can be seen as a parallel to the Secondary School Admission Test.
Currently the ISEE is administered by Measurement Incorporated an educational testing company based in Durham, North Carolina.
