A bachelor’s degree is an undergraduate degree that is awarded to the students after their completion of undergraduate program in a particular discipline of education. The duration of the undergraduate degree program differs from country to country. While in some countries, the program can be completed within 3 years, some countries have 5 years bachelor degree programs also.

In the USA , it takes four years for a person to attain an undergraduate degree. Typically comprising 120-128 credits, most universities will allow the transfer of up to 60 credits from associate degrees or community college programs. The bachelor degree under US university system is divided into two categories:

Bachelors degree with honors
  • Bachelors degree without honors- also known as “rite”
Bachelors degree with honors is further divided as
  • Bachelor degree with honors- cum laude (with praise)
  • Bachelor degree with honors- magna cum laude" (with great praise)
  • Bachelor degree with honors -summa cum laude" (with highest praise)
The students are awarded all the honors degree on the basis of Grade Point Averages (GPA) scored by them during their undergraduate program.
